This study compared survival outcomes for Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) treated with Mohs micrographic surgery versus wide local excision. No significant difference in overall or disease-specific survival was found between the two surgical approaches, though Mohs offered tissue-sparing benefits.

Both Mohs surgery and wide local excision provide comparable survival outcomes for Merkel cell carcinoma.

Mohs surgery may be preferred for MCC in anatomically sensitive locations where tissue conservation is important.
