This study evaluated compliance with NCCN guidelines for sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in Merkel cell carcinoma and identified predictors of SLNB utilization. Results showed suboptimal guideline adherence, with patient age, tumor size, and facility type influencing whether SLNB was performed.

Take-Home Messages

  • SLNB utilization in MCC remains below NCCN guideline recommendations, particularly in elderly patients and community settings.
  • Efforts to improve SLNB compliance in MCC are warranted given its prognostic and therapeutic implications.
