This multi-factor analysis identified clinical and histopathologic variables associated with poor outcomes in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. The study evaluated multiple risk factors simultaneously to determine which combinations carry the highest prognostic significance, informing risk stratification and management decisions for cSCC.

Take-Home Messages

  • Multiple concurrent high-risk features in cSCC compound the risk of recurrence and metastasis.
  • Tumor thickness >6mm, poor differentiation, and perineural invasion are among the strongest independent predictors of poor outcomes.
  • Multi-factor risk assessment should guide surveillance intensity and adjuvant therapy considerations in cSCC.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a hypercoagulable state with increased tendency for thrombus formation, a condition that is increased when combined with acquired or inherited risk factors that lead to thrombophilia. Among the inherited risk factors is Factor V Leiden mutation, an autosomal dominant trait with reduced penetrance. The mutation seems to be associated with different poor pregnancy outcomes including recurrent miscarriages. In the present study, we performed a case-control study to investigate the a...
