This study compared outcomes of Mohs surgery for melanoma performed with and without MART-1 immunostains. Use of MART-1 was associated with improved margin assessment accuracy and may reduce recurrence rates, supporting routine use of melanocyte immunostains in Mohs for melanoma.

Take-Home Messages

  • MART-1 immunostaining during Mohs surgery for melanoma improves margin assessment accuracy and is associated with better outcomes.
